The Hustle

Lately, my private practice has been booming. I went to having a handful of clients to double the number of clients, basically overnight. I finally finished my professional website (10+ hours later), which feels like an accomplishment.


I'm enjoying this endeavour for many reasons:

-I'm my own boss
-No more office politics
-I control my own hours
-I get to pick my clients
-I'm using my professional experience, coupled with my graduate school training
-I feel like I'm "in the zone" whenever I'm working




There are a few things I'm struggling with:

-Carving out "me time" - I currently work every day of the week
-Balancing my work life with my personal life. Right now, that line is very blurred.
-Accounting


All in all, I feel blessed to be able to do what I do.

All I really want to do is help kids (or adults) with learning differences.  I will happily take half than what computer programmers are paid. After spending over 20 years in school, and 9 years in the education field professionally, I have yet to find someone to take me on. I've signed on with an educator recruitment company and spend at least 4 hours a day looking for jobs, reaching out, etc. And yet...crickets or really fast rejections.  I actually appreciate the companies that reject me, and get back to me.  The worst ones are the ones that just don't have the courtesy to respond. I get that some schools and companies are so big, that they can't be bothered.  But, I'm not applying to these places. What a Day!

After spending hours on the phone with Covered CA and Blue Shield, a visit to the Alameda County Social Services office, everything was worked out. Somehow, both Covered CA and Blue Shield said my insurance was canceled by Alameda County.  Alameda County said they don't touch Covered CA.  I finally called the doctor's office, only to find out that I've been covered this whole time. I am grateful that I can afford Covered CA, but am beyond frustrated with our healthcare system. For the #1 nation, we sure have a lot of things that need improvement.
